    What is this Woke stuff?

What does it mean to be Woke? I'm not a racist, so what is this story line that I keep hearing about? Are others asking me to claim I'm something I'm not? I don't have to think about that.

I believe the term is misused or used poorly right now, but I think if you understood the history and background of the term you might be ashamed with yourself and the language you have used to describe it.

It's to be aware of discrimination, oppression and injustice, and although it stems largely from the black community, I think that it is being applied in a broader sense now.

All the little things add up over time. For example, where did 'women of color' come from. Why not men of color. And what are white people, colorless?

Women of color are the group within society that faces the most challenges, historically and currently. If we had to rank the groups based on skin color/race and gender, black women have always been on the bottom for rights and equality. A strong movement in feminism is that it focuses on white women and that feminists have to start advocating against racism so that "women of color" have the same rights and opportunities as white women. I think that is why the term exists, because they are a special group within society that has not been treated well in a "double whammy" sort of way, and where we really need to focus more attention on.

For example, women of color and maternal death rates? Absolutely shocking compared to white women.

I have met many more black women professionally than black men. The ratio is probably 4 or 5 to 1.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

And that’s exactly where people on your side of the political aisle want them. Keep them in their place.
