Ecuador grants citizenship to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who has spent 5 year

Ecuador grants citizenship to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who has spent 5 years in its London embassy

Ecuador has granted citizenship to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the South American nation’s foreign minister announced Thursday, in a bid to resolve an “unsustainable” situation at its embassy in London, where Assange sought refuge more than five years ago.

But a standoff with British authorities continued, as the Foreign Office rejected an Ecuadoran request that it grant diplomatic status to Assange, insisting instead that the Australian national “leave the embassy to face justice.”

What is being done to Assange is a gross violation of human rights and international norms.

His only "crime" has been exposing the corruption and duplicity of the out of control political class.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

Interesting; I never realized that countries that you have an embassy in had the right to tell any country who can and cannot have diplomatic status. There is something fundamentally wrong with that concept in my opinion.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

What does that have to do with Ecuador granting him citizenship?

Making him a citizen was an attempt to allow him to leave the embassy without being arrested by the brits. It was also to try and get to the point where he would be allowed back in Britain, the Brits have said No dice.

His choice to avoid a trial. His choice, his hard luck.

An accredited diplomat can't be arrested, that why they granted him citizenship.

Hell, put him in a large box and ship him out. The Brits can't open any diplomatic package. (Remember to put air holes in)

I don’t think that’s accurate. From what I’ve read, the investigation has just been suspended. It could be reinstated at any time.
