Millwrights can reproduce any parts if they are made from metal. Furthermore, if the US government approaches the original manufacturers for parts and suggests that they will be off the list of contenders for new equipment unless they can provide replacement parts, do you really think that they will give their biggest customer the middle finger? I don't think so.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

Ummm...you aren't getting this, are you? No one is saying that we cannot get the parts; we DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS, (etal) because our last POTUS was a democrat, and , he like every democrat in the past 40 years, has CUT THE DEPT. of DEFENSE budget to the bone, forcing his republican successor to REBUILD IT, just like Reagan had to; just like GW Bush had to; just like Trump HAS to.
The left ALWAYS neglects the military.

Again, that is only a small part of the problem. Technology advances. Weapons become more lethal. If we deploy a new tank that at the time it is unveiled is faster, stronger, can outrun and outgun every other tank in the world, our enemies and potential enemies are going to do what they can to develop weapons to kill it and neutralize that superiority. Once they develop those weapons, the effectiveness of that tank is greatly diminished. Now, we can keep putting band aids on it to try to counter some of those weapons, but eventually, we will have no choice but to build a better tank (or plane or ship).
Force modernization is about a whole lot more than just keeping things running.
