I have a data base for o-rings and packings if that helps anyone. My expertise is aviation which has a lot of cross-reference with autos.

Love hate relationship. Some of the engineering is amazing and some of it is just WTF? We've had both an MGB and a Discovery. My dad always had Jaguars and Rovers. The problems were always either carburation in the older vehicles or electrical in the newer vehicles. It was inexplicable.

I have a 69 MGB. Did all the body work and electrical, but not much of the mechanical work. Found some hoods at a car show, so I have some spares. I'm wondering how it would look with Austin Healy racing stripes. A bit like a Sprite, I'm guessing.

As a purist I have to say please don't. It's a gorgeous car. It doesn't need racing stripes to make it better. In fact, anything that you add that isn't original to the car diminishes its value.

Ive always shunned any car I couldnt fit in comfortably, that includes the entire lineup of small sports cars. Like the vette, austin healy and mg.

I dont get the attraction, they are uncomfortable, tight, ride worse than a pickup truck. shrug, to each their own.

I never tore down a carb in my ole days with "Jim's shade tree auto repair and destroy" until I first put a nice load of ether through it. It was not easy to obtain in the 50's it might be impossible. Welcome Mechanic.

Some of my favorites are widowmakers. ^

I never cared for the midget, or that MGA (is that the first photo?). I like the MGB because it looks great and performs well, despite the smallish engine. I kinda feel like James Bond in it. Mine is candyapple red with black interior. Had to get it reupholstered and new carpet on the floor. A fender is fiberglass. Other than that, it's mostly original and looks like new. I went for the '69 because it was the last year that was all-chrome (no rubber).

I never noticed how similar the Midget and Sprite are.

Don't worry. I won't. But here's a similar-looking Sprite with racing stripes and it looks kinda cool.
