Trump did not boom the economy. Here is the proof.

For as long as Trump has been president, his supporters have been pretending that his deregulation and tax policies made it all possible. This is demonstrably false. Take a look...

    Let's start with unemployment.
It is perfectly true to say that under Trump we have the lowest unemployment since the 60s.
But nothing is as simple as republicans would like you to believe.
As you can see in the chart below, Obama inherited an abysmal unemployment rate from the previous republican president...10%
The chart shows how --over the course of 8 years-- unemployment dropped to about 4.7%.
But wait! Here comes Trump to save the day! During the next two years Trump continued the trend that Obama started.Who gets the credit? I'll let you decide.

Under president Trump the stock market is higher than ever!
Again, technically this is a true statement. But it is also misleading.
As you can see from the graph the stock market simply continued the upward trajectory that Obama started when he was elected.
The first big red arrow indicates when Obama was elected. The second big red arrow indicates when Trump was elected.

Trump has the best GDP growth ever!
The last two bars on the graph are the annual GDP growth for Trump in his first two years: 2017 and 2018
You may notice that these two years closely resemble the bars for Obama in 2014 and 2015.
In other words, the Trump miracle economy is nothing that we haven't seen before.
Regarding the first two negative growth years I think it's fair to give Obama some slack for those years because after all, he did inherit a disaster from his republican predecessor and needed some time to clean up.

Just look at the energy sector sir. You couldn't be further from the truth. It is no secret Obama was dismantling that sector. Trump definately reversed those fortunes. Our economy is based on oil and energy.

    Check Mate.

Obama could have fixed it by not being a business idiot. Career politician. never met a payroll.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

How many QE's have occurred under Trump?

The same Economists that rated BO the Peep. Came out and said Trump gets the credit. Deregulation and small business growing were the Key Factors.

Of course one can talk to black voters and see how many say BO the Peep didn't do anything for his people. That came about in 2015 and has carried on to this day.

We are 3 years into the Trump Presidency and you are trying to give Obama credit for Trumps economy? Really? LOL

Obama's jobs were not worth a damn. Manufacturing creates middle class jobs not McDonalds. That is why the middle class shrunk under Obama and there was no wage growth. People over 50 could not longer get jobs because of threats of age discrimination law suits. So many of them had to just retire under Obama and use up all their savings until they could get on Medicare and SS.

Where are those Green Jobs from Obama? With his shovel ready jobs? Or with his jobs saved from Stimulus? Or did you like his unneeded government jobs and fake disability growth to lower unemployment more?

If you look at BLS employment (16+ non-Ag) numbers instead of unemployment then they tell the story more accurately.

As an employer, I now cannot get laborers even after raising the starting pay 15%. We sure wish the wall was built so we could bring in South American laborers legally and have them pay a flat tax, and with health care. Pin the number that can come in to the unemployment numbers and have a 5 year expiration. Illegal employers benefit because no one pays taxes for them and taxpayers have to pick up the services.

    Hi there.
I should say that I am not an economist. I took a couple of minutes trying to verify your assertion about the U.S. having an oil-based economy since intuitively that didn't feel right to me. What I found was that the largest sectors in the U.S. are Services, Health care, Construction, Tech, Retail and non durable manufacturing. If you can point me to something that shows otherwise, please do.

    Check.

Cutting taxes expands the economy and increases federal revenue.

Is that the right call? We should be limiting federal revenue. Stop the spending.

I take your point. But please try to understand mine. I am not saying that Obama was an economic genius. I am saying that based on the graphs I have presented, Trump and his advocates are not allowed to claim so either.
