MATTHEWS: Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no as a principle?
TRUMP: The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment.
MATTHEWS: For the woman.
TRUMP: Yeah, there has to be some form.

Matthews clearly did not ask "Do you believe in punishment for abortion, if abortion was against the law?"
He did ask "Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no as a principle?"
That's a very different thing from what you claimed. So, you lied. That's not debatable. Did you lie out of ignorance, or was your dishonesty deliberate?

Someone, not me, needs to do a little more research, or perhaps just read what proceeded the material you quoted. You might find this little tid bit of info:
MATTHEWS: If you say abortion is a crime or abortion is murder, you have to deal with it under law. Should abortion be punished?

Even if Roe v Wade is overturned that does not automatically spell an end to abortion. Before Roe v Wade abortion was legal in many states. The end of R v W does not mean it will suddenly become illegal. It will simply mean its up to the states to decide if it should be legal. In all probability many, if not all, states will legalize it locally with certain restrictions. But, I simply do not see abortion being made illegal universally.
What if a doctor performed sex change surgery on a man who just walked in and demanded he get it? What would happen to a doctor who prescribed hormones to a man who demanded it? Its my understanding that men have to go through a pretty rigorous psychiatric examination before he is allowed to proceed to that. If a doctor skipped those steps it seems like that doctor would be in trouble and could lose his or her license and if that doctor performed those services without a license the doctor could possibly face criminal charges. Wouldn't the same thing happen if a doctor performed an abortion that was outside the law? Not to mention that a man should have the same rights about what he does with his body without satisfying any requirements set down by others. Maybe if he decides to turn his pee pee into a banana split and has the money to pay for it there shouldn't be any conditions placed upon him.
