I was talking with my banker the other day, and he was showing me how to install and set up the bank app on my phone. So in the course of doing that, he turned the "paperless banking" option on, then off, then back on, in order to demonstrate how easy it was.

Yesterday I get three separate letters from my bank. The first letter is notifying me, in so many words, that the paperless banking option on my account has been turned on, and that if it wasn't me who did it, etc.

I open the second letter, and it's informing me that the paperless banking option on my account has been turned OFF...etc.

And, of course, the third letter let me know that the paperless banking option on my account had been turned on.

Why did he have to demonstrate that 3 times ?

I like the convenience of mobile banking, but I stick to the basics -- nothing fancy. My daughter who breeds GSDs and trains them in schutzhund takes credit card payments over her phone. She has a little module she plugs into the earphone jack that allows a person to swipe their card and then sign their name on her phone screen. Everything is so interconnected, I feel like I should probably make a better effort to learn it so I don't fall further behind.

Sorry, I had to laugh.

May I suggest sending a letter back to the bank, denoting a schedule of wanting it turned on between 8:00am, off at 5:00pm, back on at 6:30pm (after dinner), off at 9:00pm. Except Saturdays.

LOL That would be hilarious! Or, he could just do the turning on and off at those times. I wonder how long it would be before his bank called him?

Hey, the guy is a former NFL player and I suspect he probably got hit in the head more than was good for him.

The irony of the three notices coming to me on paper and in separate envelopes, and those notices being about "paperless banking" did not, I must confess, hit me until after I had posted.

The DCRA (Department of Consumer Regulatory Affairs) of D.C. require ALL inspection reports be entered digitally.
They also require all inspection agencies to keep PAPER records of the digital entries for 7 to 10 years.
So THEY can claim they are going paperless while forcing others to store paper records.
