Dude wins amature golf event ( admittedly with a score that should not have won) BUT he used only his putter! Normally an 84 in a torney is nothing to write home about. But when you do it with one short distance club? Read about it below.

I enjoy golf. I really do. I'm terrible at it. I used to be fairly decent (not good, mind you, but decent). Torn right bicep, age which affects limberness, stress, stiffness and poor eyesight have all impacted my game. To the point where I stink. I used to shoot 41 regularly in league night with the occasional breakage of 40, now I'll get to 46 by June 1 and stay there all summer +/-. It's not so much the score, it's the work. The clubs just don't do what they used to.

Golf won't be the same for a while. My scores have always been all over the map. I remember one day when I shot a 36-41 and played the front again and shot low 50's. I don't know how that happens but it does. I worked on flexibility this winter so I can take the club further back and as a bonus I can back up my car without using mirrors. LOL

My first putter looked more like a 1 iron than a putter so maybe if I could find that one then I could get through a round. I also got them from a neighbor who was about 5'4" and I'm 6'2" so it felt more like a kid's set but accuracy was great because it was like choking up.
There is no way using a more modern putter that I could do it and shoot 84. Maybe 184.

I've toyed with quitting league. I enjoy the guys, it gets me out of the office two hours early one night a week in the summer and if someone wants to go I've at least swung a club recently. Year before last my team won it -- I won the last night by golfing out my Pelosi against the league big mouth. I used to be dialed-in with my wedges, irons etc.

The unwritten rule of golf is that the long game and short game are seldom great at the same time. But those are the rounds that keep us coming back. I sometimes describe golf as a game for people who do not have enough frustration in their lives. I've left mu league several years ago but i occasionally sub and plan to join our "old duffers" day this year ( if king Andy ever allows us to congregate again) it just where a group of guys get together, pick teams and play a scramble format. And no young snots allowed so we can feel good about our drives.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys golf (or just a really funny well written book).
