New Army precision-guided 155m round without GPS

New Army precision-guided 155m round without GPS

The military has realized that it cannot rely on GPS. Russia and China can kill our satellites. And the Army is now forcing Soldiers to learn how to use a compass and map. Before my last deployment to Iraq I did a night land nav course with a bunch of enlisted Solders. At that time I was a major. There were ten of us. 8 followed this guy who used his cell phone and GPS. The one guy who stuck with me- I taught him how to run through hard terrain and hit your mark. If any of you have the experience of land nav at Fort Bragg, you know it is a pain in the ass.

Especially at night. PRC is 16 days and they smash all of Ranger School in those 16 days.

I am not sure why, but the compass and map seems to come naturally to me. On the DMZ an SF officer said I was better than his guys.

@Peter1469 Not the same but I learned to Shepardize the long way!!! If the Russians knock out Westlaw, I’m good still.
