Ive raced that 8 mile stretch hundreds of times ..the first curve is a balls out barely tap the brake to shift the weight to front right and gently accelerate thru the corner. Its easy to be at 115-120 on exit. I used to take that corner flat out without even tapping the brake just to osyche out who ever I was racing.
Hate to disappoint Cotton, but we no longer drive fast cars. Now we are driving a Ford F150 because hubby is no longer able to work on vehicles due to illness and we prefer a vehicle that doesn't need a ton of maintenance, 'cause hubby would force himself to work on them.

When it comes to cars. I know how to drive them like a half crazed tri polar to the edge ..wait. No no . i know how to drive them as a Southern Gentleman should. As for fixing them or anything else ? If i can't fix it with a hammer in 10 seconds I just walk away. I had to call a female friend of mine yesterday to show me how to turn off the water. Al Jolson must have been prowling around as i slumbered and broke something. Shoe polish is a prized item around here.

For us, even taking a vehicle in for service is a novelty and a nuisance. Hubby doesn't really trust mechanics to do the job properly. He wants to stay there and watch them.

I think the answer to the original question is that the Corvette is chasing someone that knows how to drive. The vette is spending as much time on the shoulder as it is on the road.

I think the guy in the vette was instructed not to pass because then the secret would be out

He's taken, but he can fix anything around the house. He's good with plumbing, electrical, drywall...you name it.
