Anyone here on it or ever tried it? I do more running than strength training so I don't think it's a good fit for me but I'm curious about what other athletes think.

I make primarily keto meals and try to hit the 33-33-33 ratio, but I am not a super strict or rigid follower (sucker for Starbucks and things like bananas/mangos). I have found that it takes a certain amount of preparation and planning that likely is not for everyone.

My brother did Keto and he lost something like 40 pounds in three months. I wondered if it was radical, but he said he never felt better. Now that he's reached his weight goal, I think he's modified it some. He's a runner, cyclist, swimmer, and he seems to be at his peak. I naturally avoid sugar and processed foods but I'm not keto. I've heard a lot of good about it, though.

I am a vegetarian, and I did the Keto diet a while. I am no athlete. But at the time I was working out at least 3 hours a day. The thing that really surprised me is that once you go into ketosis after a while you don't even feel hunger anymore. I have always been a slave to hunger. But while on Keto, I didn't get hungry at all. It did feel like it was a superior way of eating.
It is definitely worth trying that's for sure if anything just for the experience of it.
A lot of people stay on the diet permanently as a lifestyle. It might be perfectly safe, honestly I don't know. But, I felt that staying in Ketosis wouldn't be natural. I think as cavemen, we would have naturally been in Ketosis all winter. But come summer we would have come out of it. It seems like it might be best to use the diet until you are at your weight goal and then go back to normal. But I don't know enough to say that for certain.
If you do try it make sure to do your research. There is a lot of great information online, and even on YouTube. Also lots of strength trainers and athletes are on this diet. You will know within the first few weeks if it is for you or not. Just take care and get enough proteins, and salt, and other vitamins and minerals.
I did see one Dr who said this diet has been known to shorten your lifespan by 4 years. Who knows, but best to be armed with as much knowledge as you can before you dive into something. A lot of people say this study is misinformation but it doesn't hurt to read it. https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2018...4421535486783/ Here is one more link there are literally hundreds though. https://foodrevolution.org/blog/keto-diet-benefits/

I will check the video out soon.
I have toyed with the idea of doing Keto. I do not think it is appropriate for endurance athletes. (But that is not me these days). I probably eat pretty close to it as is, although I have not achieved ketosis.

I watched a few videos on it and the recommended proportion of fat seems crazy to me. Anyway, a consistent theme appears to be earlier than expected fatigue during intense activity.

I have, OTOH, seen very good results in overweight men.

The problem with keto is that it requires a lot of discipline to stick with. And one slip will take you out of keatosis.

Since you asked... I'm not going to preach about Keto since that's annoying, but it's wonderful for me. However, I am not an athlete. Just a mom who doesn't want to be fat. I've found it's wonderful for me to lose and maintain weight. I love not feeling hungry all the time, not having sugar cravings and feeling tired from spikes in blood sugar. Carbs are basically my enemy at this point.
I do implement the OMAD and intermittent fasting as well.
I belong to several different Keto forums and all of the transformation pics are downright astounding.
I honestly haven't found the keto diet to be hard to stick to ( I'm not the world's most disciplined person).. It can get pricey if you want more variety in the foods you eat. Eating more protein doesn't necessarily kick you out of keto. AND, the cool thing is, it doesn't take very long at all to get ketosis to kick back in.
For maintenance, I do lazy keto and it works just fine.
You are wrong about police.
