This, more than any other topic dominated the news in Vancouver. In this province 70% of the people favor the decriminalization of cannabis. Here, though it is a federal matter and the Harper government shows no inclination for changing things any tine soon.

My question is what will Obama do? He has not, as he promised in 08, backed off federal prosecutions of medical cannabis users. Will he go against the states and continue to waste taxpayers money prosecuting a victimless crime?

I hope he does the right thing in the land of the free, and makes it legal. It would be the one good thing Obama brings to this country besides the eventual correction of half the country's political views.

BTW, I "hear" BC growers [a $6 billion a year underground industry] are rubbing their hands in glee.....the market in Washington just quadrupled for them.

Imagine now, what taxing that $6 billion and eliminating the cost of investigation, arrest and prosecution would do for the deficit...now multiply that by 50.

Politicians really are stupid, you know that?

I've flip flopped on the issue of taxing probably will again. I don't think the feds should tax it. Leave that choice to the states, some of which are hurting badly and need the revenue. The Federal government needs to take in less revenue and spend far less.

Go ahead and stick his "ABSOLUTLY" thing down here. Even though they spelled "absolutely" wrong.

    The spelling's wrong on purpose.

I was just noting that. I figured it was spelled wrong on purpose, being from tim-and-eric and all that.

This is all very relevant to U.S. Politics.
