RAIDERS' MOVE TO LAS VEGAS FROM OAKLAND APPROVED BY NFL OWNERS

The Oakland Raiders will soon be no more.

On Monday, NFL owners approved the franchise's move to Las Vegas at the league's annual spring meeting by a vote of 31-1, according to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed the report, noting the Miami Dolphins were the lone "no" vote.

Raiders owner Mark Davis needed 24 "yes" votes for the proposal to be ratified.

Davis released a statement on the decision, per Will Brinson of CBS Sports .... (See Inside)

Maybe they'll actually stay put this time.

Vegas gave them money. Basically what you're saying is that the Raiders moved because the government wouldn't sjbsidize them or subsidoze them enough or as much as some other government.

With the Raiders vacating the nearby space, the 49ers will have a larger base. For instance, my dad grew up as a baseball fan of the NY Giants. When they left, the Yankees were the logical choice. (Mets' colors are designed to draw Dodger/Giant fans)

What I'm saying is the city of Oakland waited until right before the vote on relocation to offer a new stadium proposal and it lacked any specificity on funding, location, etc., which made it non-viable. The Raiders have one of the crappiest, most run-down stadiums in the league, Oakland had plenty of time to come up with a better proposal and flubbed. Vegas didn't.

Fans who change uniforms that easily aren't really fans, they're audience then at that point.

Most Raiders fans will not go over to the Niners, Chargers, or Rams just because of proximity.

There are some core/diehard fans but when teams when and the following swells it becomes a bit obvious that fans can be fickle.

The Raiders propensity to recruit new fans in that area diminishes day by day. I remember taking the 7 train out to Shea as late as the 90s and seeing the remnant Dodger fans on the trains. 2017, that is really, really rare and now if you grow up on Queens/Brooklyn/Long Island, best chance is you are a Mets fan.

If the Mets never came in, do you think Queens/Brooklyn wouldn't pull for the Yankees? Of course, and there was a day when the average Brooklyn Dodger fan would NEVER be able to pull for the Yankees!

Why should taxpayers build venues for NFL teams, rather ridiculous really If its really 'viable' why owners just build the stadium themselves?

Because the city gets to use the stadiums for tourism and events.
