    Making China Great Again

As Donald Trump surrenders America’s global commitments, Xi Jinping is learning to pick up the pieces.

China has never seen such a moment, when its pursuit of a larger role in the world coincides with America’s pursuit of a smaller one. Ever since the Second World War, the United States has advocated an international order based on a free press and judiciary, human rights, free trade, and protection of the environment. It planted those ideas in the rebuilding of Germany and Japan, and spread them with alliances around the world. In March, 1959, President Eisenhower argued that America’s authority could not rest on military power alone. “We could be the wealthiest and the most mighty nation and still lose the battle of the world if we do not help our world neighbors protect their freedom and advance their social and economic progress,” he said. “It is not the goal of the American people that the United States should be the richest nation in the graveyard of history.”

Under the banner of “America First,” President Trump is reducing U.S. commitments abroad. On his third day in office, he withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a twelve-nation trade deal designed by the United States as a counterweight to a rising China. To allies in Asia, the withdrawal damaged America’s credibility. “You won’t be able to see that overnight,” Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, told me, at an event in Washington. “It’s like when you draw a red line and then you don’t take it seriously. Was there pain? You didn’t see it, but I’m quite sure there’s an impact.”

In a speech to Communist Party officials last January 20th, Major General Jin Yinan, a strategist at China’s National Defense University, celebrated America’s pullout from the trade deal. “We are quiet about it,” he said. “We repeatedly state that Trump ‘harms China.’ We want to keep it that way. In fact, he has given China a huge gift. That is the American withdrawal from T.P.P.” Jin, whose remarks later circulated, told his audience, “As the U.S. retreats globally, China shows up.

Fine with me. China is pragmatic, and despite efforts to paint it otherwise, it also isn't particularly malevolent.

I've mentioned this several times and been poohooed.

China is also stepping up it's foreign aid programs as we cut ours, further undercutting our international influence.

They are also increasing their UN contributions of both money and troops as well as just generally increasing their international presence world wide in an attempt to take over our role as "world police".

I can't understand why people aren't more concerned about this.

People have been concerned about this and it didn't begin on Jan 20, 2017.......you know....when your concern began. This is a political calculation for you. During the Obama years, Russia filled the gap against ISIS in Syria while we stood aside and you deafened us with your silence. Here is a link from 2011 that speaks to China's growing global and regional presence and strength....you know.....when you were stone silent and when others asked about growing Chinese influence, you poohpooed it. Trump really is helping you to understand the world more, Trump and your Uncle Ransom. Here ya go, I hate to see ignorance ignored.

    http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2011/11/asia-n17.html

US President Barack Obama has used his brief state visit to Australia over the past 24 hours to underscore that his administration’s aggressive intervention into the Asia-Pacific region is aimed at undercutting China’s growing influence. The Labor government of Prime Minister Julia Gillard has unconditionally aligned itself with the US as the means for advancing Australian corporate and strategic interests within the region.
At a press conference yesterday evening, Obama and Gillard announced that the American military will boost its operations in the north and west of the Australian continent. The country’s Northern Territory and its capital city Darwin, which is closer to Indonesia than Australia’s major southern cities, will be developed into a major US staging base.
From next year, 200 to 250 US marines will train for six months of the year in the Northern Territory. By 2016-2017, the training will involve an entire marine air-ground task force of 2,500 troops. The rotation of forces in and out of the territory will be the justification for the establishment of large-scale logistical facilities and supply depots that could support a far bigger deployment.
You learn, Ransom teaches. We all are more better off, don't you think. Homework is important, Crep.......you don't get caught with your hand in the political cookie jar.....like you just did.

You want to see what weakened England to the almost ZERO influence they have anymore? Crap economy they run? Bad HC system they have and why the come here for it? Do what the dems want and you will have it.

The markets and economy seems to be way stronger. We need to get our house in order. We seem to be involved where we need to be. All this talk about withdrawing is ridiculous.......TPP? Whatever. Global Warming initiative that hurt us an no one else for 10 years? Whatever. All these do nothing initiatives? Whatever. Politically correct regulations with ZERO foresight in their damage to the economy or worse knew and did them all anyway. What counts to Americans that just don't hate Trump because there is an R next to his name?

You know all the things Obama didn't really do much about. Things that are painfully obvious now.I have a pen and a phone watch me F things up because I am a less than 1 term senator with no experience really with anything. But I look cool, have you heard me sing?

Have at it China. You are a bunch of crooked f'ers. We have the video and pics to prove it. You want to partner with these selfserving retards go ahead.

What you are seeing isn't "withdraw" you flaming idiots on the left. What you see is a renegotiation. Why you ask? Because we have the leverage (and have never used it). Renegotiation is something that we have NEVER EVER done before. What we have done is make speeches. Kind of in the same manner as all those conference calls many of us are on that are a complete waste of time. People yapping to sound important with never any follow through.

Thank you Trump for caring about our country.

BTW it is amazing the ignorance of people around us. They can't see with their own eyes. Mostly just because they have taken a side, picked a team. A team that cares about using people for their own ego, power and personal money reasons. Wake up and smell the economy.

The things I hear people say in general discussion are ridiculous sometimes. From the complete conspiracy nut to the far left wingnut.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt and went through 73 pages looking for a comment that didn't exist. I guess your point was that I did not contribute to that particular seed. You do know that the seed you linked was posted in 2015 and I joined in 2016.

I posted this seed to stimulate conversation and because it's relevant to the times. I did not give an opinion one way or the other regarding the seed except to say that I found it interesting.

Did you read the article? What did you think about the points made - agree/disagree?

LoL, everybody makes mistakes, but that was just egregious.
