A very long time ago I received a counterintelligence briefing. It seemed there was a stunningly beautiful woman working the bars downtown frequented by NCOs and enlisted men. She drank with them, rubbed against them and whispered wonderful promises in their ears. The unit I was a part of had a number of classified missions. She always seemed to show up right around the time we were gearing up for a movement. And she wanted to know if her current interest was going to be around to meet "next week".

I had a top secret clearance. Sadly she never approached me, never rubbed up against me nor made wonderful promises.

It was my job to make sure the enlisted understood what she was up to.

These days she would use Facebook, Twitter and email.

Was her name Natalia Veselnitskaya? hehehehehe

Okay, every couple of days I log onto my personal email account and I have half a dozen emails or more from women who claim they are Asian or Russian and they all want to meet me! Some claim they want to offer me certain things (that's a cleaned up version of what they actually say). The latest email is from Hanna and she wants to ......... well, use your imagination.

So, I'm like how do these chicks know me and since when did I switch teams?

Kidding aside, it's very icky seeing all these emails loading up my in box. What in the world causes people to be targeted for these type of "offers". I'm seriously baffled because I pretty much do N.O.T.H.I.N.G so how in the world did I fall onto their radar.

No. But she was a honeypot.

The counter intel guys observed here for months before she moved on. I think I would have enjoyed that duty.

For GIs at the bar, the honey pots sit facing away from the GI, looking behind their back, the honeypots back toward the bar. They like to lean sideways toward their target to see if they have a recording device on their chest and to watch behind their target to see if their target is being watched by any friends he has. To see if their is a recording device in their jacket pocket or in their shirt. The honey pots then rub the backs, chest of their target to check for " Wires " and recording devices. The honey pots dont want to get taken by the subject they are trying to take, nor become arrested and having to work for the good guys.

Bartenders are most the time in cahoots with honeypots, and provide an extra eye or ears. When the honeypot spins around to face the bar, the bartender watches her back and looks to see if the " Target " has cover personnel behind him, or if any arrive after he does.

At the table, where they can't get a " feel " for their target , like they can on the bar stool, they ask to dance where the honey pot rubs down her target. Head on chest or shoulders, she rubs his back and lower back. Then its hands and fingers over the chest. Asian countries predominately ( South Korea & Japan ), European secondly. Key is when and where she gets conversive, she wont do it till she feels comfortable that she is not going to be taken. Or arrested. Again, she don't want to get taken by the same person she is trying to take.

Honey pots are just that, traps, and have been doing it for a while. If you kiss her cheek, forehead, use your fingers to get rub her back or buttocks and she cringes ; then she is more than likely a honeypot.

Don't open the email. If your email allows, mark it as spam. Certain agencies NO JOKE monitor those kind of websites so don't add to the documentation.

Good recommendation. I've never opened one up. I've always deleted them. I'm too paranoid about who may be watching. Although I admit I'm a bit curious what the heck is in those darn emails!!! hahahahaha

Internet usage is not secure. If you send an email from Texas to North Dakota, every server that email crosses, the administrator can see it. Not to mention there are other ways emails and internet usage can be monitored, or viewed.

Nothing electronic is secure. Even a simple computer tablet with no internet or Wi Fi installed, it is not secure.

Don't open emails you are not familiar with, as soon as you do the sender gets their received confirmation and all you get is spam emails.

Practice good internet security and identity security and you will be ok.
