He still ran out on his share of the bill, minimally. That is either fraud or theft, depending on whether the one holding the bill is capable of paying. If people who know each other well go out to dinner, each paying their own way is stipulated well in advance. If a guy who doesn't know a woman invites her out to dinner, I don't think that much has changed, unless you are in the under 35 crowd. If a guy says, let me take you out to dinner, I think that it is implied that he is paying, as opposed to do you want to go out for a bite to eat or let's get dinner.

Exactly.....that would have put my radar up. I would have thought at minimum that I was going to have to offer up something at the end of the evening.

I've had to travel quite a bit for my job and I would generally have a drink at the bar before retiring (I don't drink at all anymore). Inevitably someone would offer to buy me a drink. I always turned them down. If they were too pushy I'd buy them a drink and chat until our drink was finished then I would bid them goodnight and leave. I never felt right about having a man buy me anything unless I knew him and what he was actually buying. lol
