Trump cancels pay raise federal workers were due in January

It's a start, anyway, to begin CUTTING SPENDING AND WASTE in the Fed:

Trump cancels pay raise federal workers were due in January

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump informed Congress on Thursday that he is canceling pay raises due in January for most civilian federal employees, citing budget constraints. But the workers still could see a slightly smaller boost in their pay under a proposal lawmakers are considering.

Trump said he was axing a 2.1 percent across-the-board raise for most workers as well as locality pay increases averaging 25.7 percent and costing $25 billion.

"We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases," said Trump. The president last year signed a package of tax cuts that is forecast to expand the deficit by about $1.5 trillion over 10 years.

Trump cited the "significant" cost of employing federal workers as justification for denying the pay increases, and called for federal worker pay to be based on performance and structured toward recruiting, retaining and rewarding "high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets."

This is why you have unions.

Perhaps this will be the boot in the ass the workers need to get those who are not represented by a union to get off their collective butts and organize. Those who are ineligible to organize under the law are free to vote democrat in the upcoming election. Not so much on account of a lack of a raise, but the proposed changing of the system of pay raises.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Public sector unions should be illegal.

F.D.R. Warned Us About Public Sector Unions

“It is impossible to bargain collectively with the government.”

That wasn’t Newt Gingrich, or Ron Paul, or Ronald Reagan talking. That was George Meany -- the former president of the A.F.L.-C.I.O -- in 1955. Government unions are unremarkable today, but the labor movement once thought the idea absurd.

The founders of the labor movement viewed unions as a vehicle to get workers more of the profits they help create. Government workers, however, don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. F.D.R. considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.”

Federal Employees have unions several different ones that most employees can join.

Also this is not news it happens nearly every year where were the complaints then? The automatic 2.1 raise is nearly always replaced by a smaller one that is part of a spending bill.
Lets look oh and refresh my memory, who was POTUS in 2011-2013?
    2017 1.0% From $32,030.00 to $32,353.00 / year ($323.00 raise)
    2016 1.0% From $31,714.00 to $32,030.00 / year ($316.00 raise)
    2015 1.0% From $31,401.00 to $31,714.00 / year ($313.00 raise)
    2014 1.0% From $31,087.00 to $31,401.00 / year ($314.00 raise)
    2013 0.0% From $31,087.00 to $31,087.00 / year ($0.00 raise)
    2012 0.0% From $31,087.00 to $31,087.00 / year ($0.00 raise)
    2011 0.0% From $31,087.00 to $31,087.00 / year ($0.00 raise)

"The powers of the federal government are enumerated; it can only operate in certain cases; it has legislative powers on defined and limited objects, beyond which it cannot extend its jurisdiction." James Madison 1788

Interesting. Everyone wants the other guy to pay the price for deficit reduction. Everyone wants more services provided by government as long as someone else is paying for it.

Again, most people want someone else to pay for that sustainability.
