Buzz Aldrin blasts Neil Armstrong biopic First Man for not showing the planting of the American flag on the Moon

Hollywood wonders why so many of their movies fall flat.

Buzz Aldrin appeared to criticise Neil Armstrong biopic First Man for leaving out the planting of the American flag on the Moon.

The 88-year-old, who was the second man to set foot on the Moon after his late crew-mate, tweeted a picture of the flag planted after their landing in 1969.


He captioned the photo: 'Proud to be an American.' Aldrin also re-tweeted a photo of him saluting next to the same picture.


His apparent dig at Oscar-winning director Damian Chazelle's decision not to include the planting of the flag comes after reviews said the movie portrayed him as a 'blunt obnoxious loudmouth.'



First Man, tipped to win big at the Oscars, opened the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday to criticism that it deliberately downplayed American patriotism.

This is a great example of what might be termed "reverse-PC" - although, actually, just as so-called "reverse racism" is really just racism, people who get all snowflakey and upset because something isn't said or done precisely the way they want it to be are every bit as guilty of PC behavior as anyone else. Think about it; if a flag-planting scene had been included in the film and there had been objections to that, would you take those objections seriously, or would you think those people were being ridiculous?
