Today in History 2001 Attack on America

I was in Korea when it happened. A friend of mine called and I turned on the news. I told her that we were at war.

At 8:45 a.m. on a clear Tuesday morning, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds... read more »

I was in my office preparing for a deposition. I knew at that moment that life as we knew it was over.

I was sitting in the kitchen tieing my shoes getting ready for work, when my wife calls to me and said look at this. We both saw the second plane hit the WTT, I knew then NYPD and NYFD was in for it. It was hard to believe even when you saw it happen

One of the worst moments in the history of this country. And seventeen years later, the "war on terror" has not been won. If anything, Al Qaeda is stronger, more extensive, and more influential than they were in 2001. Much of the blame for this failure falls squarely on the corrupt political class who clearly have no intention of winning this war.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

The War Against Terror - as some of my Brit friends like to call it because it forms a useful acronym - has been a godsend for those in government with a bent toward policies that restrict, micromanage or even altogether do away with the rights and freedoms of the people.

I was sitting in my seventh-grade class. Teachers were being called to the office in groups. Mine came back crying, he said America had been attacked, and he told us we were to walk directly home where our parents would meet us. When I got home, my mom was crying and watching CNN (she'd been sent home from work) and then I vaguely remember tall buildings in Toronto being evacuated because they didn't know who/where was next.

I was in 7th grade, a few miles away from the attack. There was a thick cloud of smoke up to around my ankles even being miles away. Pretty surreal.

That's what it really boils down to, they used the attack as a way to generate money for certain corporations and debt for the bankers, but had no intention of winning the war. They also used the confusion over the attacks and the general pro America sentiment as a way to get into Iraq. Evil and contemptible.

I was at work. My wife called me and told me a plane had hit one of the towers. She kept me informed and I passed it along. When the tower fell I announced it.

It went completely silent. Someone stood up and said the gates of hell had just opened for us and we wouldn't be the same again.
