    Nikki Haley’s View of New York Is Priceless. Her Curtains? $52,701.

    More Biased attacks by the NY Times, any idea why people have little trust in the media?

    WASHINGTON — The State Department spent $52,701 last year buying customized and mechanized curtains for the picture windows in Nikki R. Haley’s official residence as ambassador to the United Nations, just as the department was undergoing deep budget cuts and had frozen hiring.

    The residence, in a new building on First Avenue, has spectacular views, and Ms. Haley is the first ambassador to live in it. For decades, her predecessors lived in the Waldorf Astoria hotel. But after the hotel was purchased by a Chinese insurance company with a murky ownership structure, the State Department decided in 2016 to find a new home for its top New York diplomat because of security concerns.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/13/u...-curtains.html

    What they failed to mention until like Paragraph 6 is;
    A spokesman for Ms. Haley said plans to buy the curtains were made in 2016, during the Obama administration. Ms. Haley had no say in the purchase, he said.

    But then they go right back to blaming Haley, or at least hinting blame with;

    The curtains themselves cost $29,900, while the motors and hardware needed to open and close them automatically cost $22,801, according to the contracts. Installation took place from March to August of last year, during Ms. Haley’s tenure as ambassador. Ms. Haley’s curtains are more expensive than the $31,000 dining room set purchased for the office of Ben Carson,

    So they were installed starting in March 17? well that means the contract was bid in around Sep-Oct 16 awarded Nov-Dec 16, Who was in charge then???? Wasn't it John Kerry and POTUS Obama?
    Guess it sounds better to blame Haley..........

    Are you f'ing kidding? Do these $#@!s realize some of the voters live inn houses that are worth less than that? Why are we funding a personal residence anyway?
    It also shows the "effectiveness" of government as it took 5 freaKIN MONTHS TO GET CURTAINS INSTALLED!

    The plans were made in 2016. Ok, they couldn't change the plans?

    Contracts were already let.
    When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

    When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

    And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

    Possibly, but that's an assumption. However they probably could have canceled with a penalty.

    Who knows. Regardless, the article isn't fake news. It isn't hiding the fact that the plan was made by the previous admin.

    Contract was signed in 2016. The Curtains would be a specialty order. Should they cancel the order after the curtains were made?

    Exactly, our ambassadors should live in tents or cardboard boxes.

    When she stops being the Ambassador will she be allowed to remain in the residence rent free for the rest of her life? If Clinton (crossing myself to ward off evil spirits) had won and appointed a different Ambassador would the NYT have publish an article chastising Ms Clinton.

    Do you people all live in caves? Price out electronic shades today, an in-law recently spend 5 grand on one, albeit a large one. We priced some recently and decided we'd live with existing ones. lol The right wing in America needs something to whine about, they do nothing but that, nothing new here.
