Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser comes out of the shadows

I do not condone sexual assault I have daughters and a wife. I do not condone sexual abuse or harassment. I spent my life on my tiptoes not to do any of the above.

If He did it and it can never be proven, I dont condone it but it should not stop him from being appointed to Scotus.

The woman who has accused Brett Kavanaugh of attacking her during a high school party in the 1980s, came forward Sunday, saying the Supreme Court nominee drunkenly pinned her to a bed, groped her over her clothes and put his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream, according to a new report.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” Christine Blasey Ford, 51, told The Washington Post in a report published online Sunday. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”

Ford, a research psychologist in northern California, said Kavanaugh and a friend were both “stumbling drunk” when they pushed her into a bedroom during the alcohol-fueled party in suburban Maryland.

With his pal watching, Kavanaugh grinded his body against hers and tried to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it, Ford told the paper.

She said she managed to flee when Mark Judge, Kavanaugh’s classmate at Georgetown Preparatory School, jumped on top of them – allowing her to lock herself in a bathroom before running out of the house.

Ford said she told no one about the episode until 2012, when she was in couples therapy with her husband.

On Sunday, the White House sent the newspaper a statement that Kavanaugh issued last week, when the outlines of his accuser’s account first became public,

“I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time,” he said.
Through a White House spokesman, Kavanaugh declined to comment further on Ford’s allegation and did not respond to questions about whether he knew her during high school.

I believe this woman. I was a victim of being mauled in public by two guys who were younger than me. It happened in a grocery store of all places. I could not go to the grocery store by myself afterwards for many many years. To this day I am cautious about being in public places by myself. I felt violated and terrified. The guy I was with at the time didn't believe me and when he eventually accepted "something" happened to me, he made excuses and told me to get over it, it's not like I was raped.

Sexual assault isn't about sex, it's about asserting power over someone.

I have observed that people who have experienced sexual assault before are more likely to take public allegations seriously than those who haven't experienced such themselves.

Of course you believe her. I wouldn't expect anything else from you.

We are always told that there are more victims of people who will commit acts of this nature. I'll wait for these other women to to come forward and tell their tales.

If anyone is not highly suspicious of this accusation and its timing, they have no common sense

I'm very skeptical of her claim. Virtually every woman who has worked with him has come to his defense.

The timing and how this has been handled seems very suspicious. Why wasn't this an issue in a past confirmation hearing? Why did Feinstein sit on this for months? Why didn't she raise this issue when she questioned him both in her office in private or during the hearings?

This doesn't pass the smell test. At least to anyone who has any common sense.

Why do you be.iever her? Just because he was a Trump nominee? Or, just because in general?

Has any allegation against a non-Democrat ever "passed the smell test" for you?

I tend to believe accusations which seem credible and not partisan motivated.

Because of the language she uses to describe how she felt when it happened and how she felt years later. Her doctor also corroborates her claim based on their sessions in 2012. She knows her reputation will get annihilated over this and she will probably lose friends and colleagues.

Whether or not this incident should have any impact on Mr. Kavanaugh's confirmation is another discussion.
