Week Two: NFL Stadiums Plagued by Thousands of Empty Seats

    https://www.breitbart.com/sports/201...f-empty-seats/

The NFL with a freight train of momentum allows one man to wreck their image, to define their weakness and lack of leadership.

You could blame lack of attendance on hurricane stress, but....games out West saw the same empty seat syndrome.

Four of the seven telecasts failed to match the number of eyeballs drawn to the year-ago game, while the three that gained in viewership all aired on Sunday.
The overall decline represented the league’s third consecutive decrease in Week 1 viewership.
Last season’s opening seven games drew an audience that was 12 percent smaller than it was in 2016, which in turn was 7 percent smaller than the audience for the first seven games of 2015.
In 2015, thanks to an 4.4 percent uptick in viewership, the number of Week 1 viewers reached a peak of 140.4 million.

You'd think with declining tv viewers and less seats filled the NFL would be concerned. Massive contracts, the same off field nonsense. I've been watching this year, the talent is there, they've a great product. Don't fck it up.

Attendance is down in all sports, not just the NFL.

Most of their money comes from TV contracts, not game attendance.

stadiums are expensive. Not only to build, but to maintain. If the events aren't filling the seats required to show a profit, it will all fold, unless the sport corporations stand down on the players nonsense.
If you want to protest, I have no problem with it. But do it on your own time, outside the entrance doors. Be sure to make it to the locker room in time to start. Do the job they were paid to do. Protesting on the field is NOT in their contracts

The NFL Can’t Keep TV Afloat Anymore

NFL Broadcasting Stocks Slump As Protests Rise And TV Ratings Fall

NFL tv ratings have fallen thats not disputable, anyone that doesnt believe that kneeling for the flag hasnt been the catalyst of that is in denial.

This is very simple, Americans liberal and conservative alike are fundamentally a Patriotic people. We also honor our veterans and our current military.

Kolin Kaepernics kneeling for the flag was taken by most as an affront to our flag therefore the United States and therefore our veterans.

There is absolutely no correlation between kneeling for the "PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE" at the beginning of a football game and Protesting Police, many believe that excuse was an after thought to try and justify kneeling for the Pledge.

If he wanted to protest the police and made it plain to everyone it was the POLICE that he was protesting, then it would have been much better received by americans and wouldnt have caused any of the backlash.

There are many reasons I am sure Football is on TV half of the week on 10 channels, replays are on the other days. The protests I am sure effect attendance as well, once you add in ridiculous prices that average $212 across the NFL per ticket, I can clearly see why there is a drop in attendance.

That point sails over the head of those that need it to be about NFL attendance.

This is true. I believe that player salaries are covered by the TV contract. I believe that player signing bonuses are paid and the team is run on attendance money.

Gate receipts cover stadium operation costs. Signing bonuses are part of the player salary and covered by the salary cap money which comes from the TV contracts.

Attendance is declining mostly because the quality of the game is in decline.

Rule changes which favor the offense and poor officiating which is impacting the outcome has hurt the NFL more than any kneeling.
