Trump administattion 'continuing support for Saudi-led operation against Yemen to protect US arms sales'

The Trump administration is reportedly continuing US support for the Saudi-led military operation in Yemen that has killed thousands of civilians, in order to safeguard American arms sales to Gulf allies.Since 2015, the US and UK have been supporting the Saudi-led bombing operations against Houthi rebels in Yemen that Riyadh say are necessary to support what it considers the legitimate government in Yemen and to try and counter alleged Iranian support for the rebels. The United Nations has said the operation has killed at least 16,700 civilians and created one of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
A US media report said Mike Pompeo, the secretary of state, recently decided to continue America’s increasingly controversial involvement, after being told if it stopped it could threaten $2bn of sales of US-manufactured weapons to Washington’s allies in the Gulf.

Taxpayer money is sunk into those weapons through private corporations, we pay for development, and those corporations then get to sell them to whoever we think is ok? And who is ok changes from day-to-day? I know we tend to sell dumbed-down versions of our best stuff, but we will end up facing our own weapons at some point.

We do sell dumbed down versions. And you'll forget much of the technology developed by these companies we also benefit from. We pay for development as part of the product sale as you do every product you own. Let me try a little experiment on you, RadioGod, I'm curious.

I'm on the fence with the Yemen thing: The country is kind of 1879 Tombstone Arizona right now and is apparently a haven for terrorist cells, like the Saudis should talk about countries supporting terrorism... But this whole thing is pretty much the work of the citizens of these countries allowing themselves to get swept up in this "Crusade" and those radicals over there it IS a crusade, don't kid yourself. Somalia's on the verge of starving to death, but there's no international outcry.

I think that these people are just going to have to spin out. I'm thinking that the best thing that we can hope to do is keep it contained until the wind stops blowin.
