I can see how some would be attracted to it. I'm not one of them.

I speed a bit and am a safe but somewhat aggressive driver. I'm always acutely aware of what's happening and anticipating other drivers actions, but I do things that would probably increase my rates with that system.

Mind you, I've never been in an accident and I'm a compulsive signaller and a conscientious driver.

I don't see how it denegrates John Han$#@!, he was one of the wealthiest people in all 13 colonies, making his money in the import/export business and arguably dabbled in smuggling and evading import duties. I don't imagine that he would disagree with the insurance company that is his namesake. How is it hypocritical?

    Ahh ... so it's a heritage thang.

It's no joke that corporations monitor their customers like rats. I hope the new policy gets tanked, either by consumer reluctance or in court, and preferably not the latter.

And you know their making money from gleaning your privacy. That is the only reason they're doing it, Mr John Han$#@!.

How about employers? Shouldn't they be monitoring their employees 24/7 just to make sure their sick day isn't really just an avoidable hangover associated with the Sunday football get together in the ol' man cave?
Han$#@!'s just cashing in on the growing market of health fanatics - mostly in big cities. They are offering lower rates to the people who exercise religiously and eat organic, locally grown food and have very few unhealthy habits, are probably younger and have children. As to the invasion of privacy, these are probably younger people who don't view privacy quite the same way as prior generations did.

I could see it being abandoned by consumers. I can't see it being stopped by the courts. I don't see anything illegal there or unconstitutional.

What will really put you off Han$#@! is that it's now a Canadian owned company.

According to the company providing this information only serves to earn discounts. Your original rate does not require providing this information, however in doing so, upon renewal your rates should be lower assuming that you are living a very healthy lifestyle. It's very much like telematics in auto insurance. They sell you a highly discounted Apple Watch that tracks your heart rate, sleep and movement, if you are planning to participate in the program.

We signed up. We'll see if it produces discounts. The only accidents we have ever had was one driver that rammed our vehicle when it was stationary at a red light (no real damage to our Isuzu Trooper, but the rammer's little car was destroyed), a snowbank chopper that chopped our snow-covered parked car on our street (it was an older second car that wasn't used all that often) and some yo-yo that lost control on our street and hit our vehicle (same Trooper) while parked on our property - that actually did some damage to the frame. The car that hit it was a mess and flipped on its side. Impaired driving. I was in the shower at the time and heard it happen. It was that loud. Cops were there in minutes.
