Pennsylvania allows prior bad acts to be used in sentencing but not the trial. An appeal might be foolish. If the sentencing is thrown out the new sentence could be more prison time. He should take it.

In an appeal the sentence would remain the same or if sucessful, less. The apoeal can not result in a longer sentence.
