I don't know that it would make for a happy life. I honestly think the majority of people who go into politics do so to make positive changes and not simply for ulterior motives. But what happens is that people slowly realize they have to make concessions and sacrifice some of their ideals in order to get anything done.
Traditionally, those who aspire to become political leaders, would start by doing things like getting a law degree, volunteering for political parties, running for lower offices, etc...working your way up and learning about how politics works. However, these days it seems some prefer people without that knowledge or track record. Some would rather vote for personalities and rhetoric rather than experience and qualifications.
