We can only limit the lust for power by limiting the reach of the government. But those who believe in the idea of the government will likely not abandon it no matter the reality and will continue to pursue ever bigger, more intrusive, central government..

It seems when governments go bad, whether communist, democratic, monarchist, or some form of republic, they all look exactly the same. Look at the US, we are a Constitutional Republic by birth, and now we are a socialist nation. And check out China, a strict communist country, and now home to the most capitalistic billionaires in the world.

We were warned that we had to stay vigelant and we simply didn't. The Constitution could work if the people just had 2 things.

I never said they took over. Its just that they have most all the representation in Congress, etc. and the people have almost nothing!

Large corporations have the money to hire armies of lobbyists. I have long said we should have a separate set of business laws / regulations for large and small businesses. That would prevent large businesses from harming smaller businesses with their lobbying efforts.

They should make third-party lobbyists illegal - the CEO or owner should have to do their own lobbying in person. That would mitigate the amount of time any major corporation could spend on lobbying activities.

I don't agree with that. CEOs are overworked as it is- they have no time for lobbying Congress- which can be a very time consuming process.

    And that's a problem because?

It is unworkable. Should the CEO do the corporate taxes herself as well? Defend the corporation in court?
