Alaska is a quite red state; so I would be very surprised if the majority of Alaskans opposed Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.

But perhaps she is just going after the suburban-mom vote.

I confess that I am just guessing; I really do not know.

I am not sure why she voted the way she did considering how red Alaska is. I would be against the local GOP "kicking" her out of the party- just run someone against her in the next primary. A real conservative.

Since we are talking about Murkowski, I am pretty sure that is not it.

How could they "kick" her out. Take her to court when she runs for reelection with an (R) behind her name?

Anyway demanding party members to vote in lockstep is the integrity issue here.

I don't really know that much about her. Are there examples of her behavior that indicate she has no personal integrity?

You wrote "I am not sure why she voted the way she did considering how red Alaska is." That's what I was responding to. Sometimes one does what they consider to be right even if its not popular. Its up to her constituents to have the final say on that so we agree with regard to your last sentence if I understand what you mean.

Forgetting you represent the people and not yourself is not integrity.

So just as a thought experiment if the "people" support something that is morally reprehensible to you, you should ignore that? What if the majority want a lynching. Do you accept that as a case of what the majority wants and not try and prevent it even if that means going against the majority that put you in office?
