The news channels have decided that today's reality show will be themed "Hurricane Michael". They have sent several of their main msm hosts to provide onsite coverage of the storm. The hosts are standing in the hurricane forces with their flimsy rain gear and their microphones as they are pelted by rain.

We have "real" weather men that can give us updates on the weather. But most of them if not all of them are not actually onsite. Why.....because their smart enough to understand the weather they study.

We have technology that can provide far better information to us then watching John Berman in a drenched CNN jacket trying to explain what we can barely comprehend BECAUSE of the weather!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Not to mention telling people to evacuate the place they deliberately drove to!

Right. It is pretty stupid. I watch sometimes wondering whether a piece of flying debris would kill one of these idiots on live TV. It would be wrong, but I would laugh.

We have the technology to make live reporting unnecessary, the weatherman can do a lot more in studio next the the anchor, with his computer and tools in front of him/her.

Also, as said above, if the weatherman can be there, why should I evacuate?

It's an extreme aspect of the dumbing of television. You have the anchor in the studio, and some reporter standing in, or worse, in front of, the place where something happened. You couldn't understand that the Prime Minister said we would leave Europe if the reporter wasn't standing outside the closed door of 10 Downing Street, Or that there had been a massive motorway jam without a reporter standing on an overbridge showing you lines af stationary cars! "Weathermen" used to be actual weather experts with a degree in weatherology. Now they're stuntmen!
News: Rich people paying rich people to tell middle class people to blame poor people.

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

Most of those TV clowns are not weathermen! They have a degree in journalism. A real weatherman has a doctorate in meteorology. I know, that was my major in college and it requires a lot of math which is not my forte, and my dad blew my college fund on gambling debts so I couldn't transfer to UCLA.

I guess it didn't occur to him to get a job and pay for his own education.

Based on some of his previous posts (from long ago) he did. But in a different field.
