Heitkamp will lose because she's too left-wing for her state and voted against Kavanaugh, not because of some Supreme Court ruling. Liberal journalists are just up with alternate excuses for her coming Senate loss because they don't want the Democratic party to move to the right.

Seriously ripmeister ?? are you actually implying that acquiring a photo ID is such a hardship they shouldn't be required ??
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Did anyone who is defending the court's decision actually bother to do any reading about why that North Dakota law was passed in the first place? Nothing whatsoever to do with "voter fraud" and everything to do with discouraging certain citizens from voting whom the Republicans were well aware had valid government IDs without street addresses. Republicans have done exactly the same thing in other states - legislatively targeting certain types of photo ID that are favored by racial minorities and students. Those who look at incidents like this and refuse to see them for the underhanded, un-American, partisan offenses they clearly are, are either hopelessly prejudiced against fairness or invincibly stupid.

I don't know the timeline, but at some point North Dakota will have to comply with the Real ID Act. Among other things, home address will have to be on the license. Soon if you don't have a Real ID compliant license you will not be able to travel by air or enter any federal facility. I would imagine a valid passport would work though.

However, I do think it is condescending to minorities to assume they are too stupid to figure out how to get a valid photo ID.

Here in VA, if your ID doesn't have a street address you can provide other proof of residence such as a utility bill or your voter registration card.

What Hardship? Again there are 13 (sorry posted 17 earlier but found new listing apparently some have combined) This does not count additional offices in the Columbus metro area that are not in Franklin County

    Ohio Identification Card

In Ohio, an individual is not permitted to hold an Ohio driver license and an identification (ID) card at the same time. Having an ID card issued will cancel a driver license, requiring the applicant to retest if/when he or she applies for a new driver license.
Ohio ID cards are valid for four years and there is no minimum age for obtaining one. Applicants must provide proof of:
    • Full legal name
    • Date of birth
    • Social Security number (if assigned)
    • Legal presence
    • Ohio residency
Click HERE for more information about acceptable documents.
    Temporary ID Cards

    • If an unexpired driver license is suspended, a temporary ID card may be issued to provide the driver with a form of identification until the suspension is over.
    • Temporary ID cards are only issued in certain cases and can be used with court-ordered driving privileges.
    Where Do I Go?

starting January 22, 2018 "passengers with a driver's license issued by a state that is still not compliant with the REAL ID Act (and has not been granted an extension) will need to show an alternative form of acceptable identification for domestic air travel to board their flight". Starting October 1, 2020 "every air traveler will need a REAL ID-compliant license, or another acceptable form of identification, for domestic air travel."As of October 2018, 37 states and territories have been certified as compliant, and 19 have been granted extensions.

North Dakota already meets the Real ID Requirements including the Data sharing, so what are these types of photo ID that are favored by racial minorities and students, that are being eliminated?

The one pain in the ass with Read ID is you have to go in person the first time to get it (makes sense, just a pain) - here in VA, once you had your first license you could renew via internet. I just renewed- VA has an extension, but soon I will have to go back and wait a long time for my turn- or just keep my current license until 2027 and travel on my passport or Global Entry card.
