That is probably true. That would explain why you believe that. However, anyone with an entire brain knows you are wrong.

Showing proof of residency, including having an address, in order to register to vote makes sense and no one questions that. Requiring that there be an address on the ID that you're showing to confirm that yes, that's you on the voter rolls, does not make sense - unless you're picking and choosing types of ID in order to disenfranchise a certain demographic.
Bull$#@!. You need to prove you are the John Smith in your precinct. How damn hard is that to understand?

They didn't live in the county seat usually and had no way to do this.

If you make voter id difficult to get it's old Jim crow again. That doesn't interest me.

Let's see what the Constitution actually says, not what people think it says or wish it says.

Amendment XV - "Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

I don't see the part saying the state has to provide you with ID free of charge.

Amendment XIX - The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Still not seeing it.Amendment XXIV - "Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay poll tax or other tax.

It is still not there, but maybe we're getting closer.Amendment XXVI - Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.

I am afraid that is all it says on the matter. I didn't see the "Gotta give them a free ID or a ride to the polls or provide multilingual ballots or any of that good stuff people keep trying to say the Constitution demands. I am really sick of the sense of entitlement people feel in this country. Voting is a responsibility. It is a duty. If you want to vote, you do what you need to do to vote. If that means you walk 10 miles in a damned hurricane to get to the polls, that is what you do.

Evidently those with only half a brain believe that.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

To believe that, one would need half a brain.

That is why we have courts that will review state ID to vote laws to ensure that they are constitutional. Many state laws have passed, such as Virginia's.

Lots of ways to vote. Absentee for one.
