Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic socialist hoping to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, declared over the weekend that the Electoral College is a racist American relic that must be abolished.

“It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic,” the 28-year-old Boston University graduate tweeted to her 881,000 followers Saturday afternoon.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was commenting on a tweet by GQ magazine’s Julia Ioffe, who complained that the Electoral College has helped conservatives get elected....

Dana Perino reacted Wednesday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" to New York U.S. House candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for the abolition of the electoral college.

Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bronx) called the system a "shadow of slavery's power."

Perino said the last time Democrats were fired up over the electoral college was after the 2000 election when President Bush won the electoral vote, but Al Gore won the popular vote -- a result compounded by a Supreme Court ruling in favor of Bush.

Carlson noted that President Lincoln did not win the popular vote, but was elected because of the Electoral College -- then went on to end slavery.

Slavery had nothing to do with the creation of the Electoral College. Candidates for political office should have to pass a basic course on civics / government. More often than not when O-C opens her mouth something stupid comes out.

If that's the case, even in the states won by Democrats are populated with racists as even the county by county breakdown is quite red in many of them.

This woman is truly a blithering idiot. If any segment of our population could elect her to any position of authority, they should get what they deserve.
