NJ has a large Indian population. It's small in absolute terms but I mean large relative to other states. She makes these dishes with sesame, chick peas and rice that's just cooked exactly right. I didn't grow up eating rice. I cook a lot but rice has always been a mystery to me.

Yeah, I know. I was on my way to Maine once and stopped at a gas station, I guess Indians have a monopoly on gas stations there and as you know NJ has this crazy law that you can't pump your own gas.

I pumped my own gas, they just stood at a distance and watched me.

Whenever I'm out of state it's always remarkable to me that white people are working at gas stations, convenience stores, Burger Kings and so forth. There are a couple local gas stations (by local I mean within walking distance) that just hire local kids to man the pumps because they make their money fixing cars not selling gas but you're right. In my area at least most straight up gas stations are staffed by Indians and Arabs.

    Yeah, I don't get it.

It all started when I wanted to pay with a debit card and he grabbed out of my hand. That ended quickly.
