He's a hired gun for BP. He doesn't have to have any opinion of what they do. He is supposed to defend them. Why is that a problem for any attorney?

Now he is an attorney for the other side. So what? is he now guilty unless he proves he is innocent?

Wow! I guess Kavanaugh had a permanent effect on our justice system.

From William Shakespeare's Henry VI, Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2. The full quote is "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".

No attorneys should be allowed to hold public office. They either pass the laws they will use or carry out the laws or judge the laws. The founding fathers didn't think this one thorough.

Of course they can. But if a prosecutor who was a former defense attorney (or even if not) was caught throwing cases to benefit defendants they would lose their law license and may suffer other penalties.

The argument about the revolving door between industry and government agencies is essentially the same- "throwing the case" for the defendant / giving favorable treatment and pushing favorable regulations for their industry.

The character who said that was an anarchist and an antagonist in Henry VI.

Do you think such a law would pass Constitutional muster? Many lawyers work in non-legal fields. Many lawyers for big business work as lawyers and are in management. Some are just in management and don't provide legal advice.

You approve of the industry to regulatory agency to "K" Street train? I think you may be the only person that does. Anyway , obviously such a person has ties to the industry and should not be selected for a position where he will be up against them.. The FDA does the same $#@!. You really can't see the conflict there? This is not a legal proceeding, it's a hiring and conflict of interest not guilt is the issue.
