Gov. Moonbeam Signs ANOTHER Ridiculous Law

Everyone knows Gov Moonbeam is Jerry Brown the clown

He just signed another assinine liberal I wanna, restaurants can only list Milk and water as drinks for sale.

California is home to raging progressives and some really dumb laws. And it's hard for me to admit that I was born and raised in the liberal hell hole *cough* I mean, paradise.
    '
Gov. Jerry Brown keeps adding to California's stupidity. This time it's with S.B. 1192, which prohibits restaurants and fast food joints from listing anything other than plain ol' milk and water on menus. The real kicker though: people can still order soda and juices. They just have to ask for it.

According to the Foundation for Economic Education, here's what happens if they are found in violation:

[The] first violation shall result in a notice of violation. A second violation within a five-year period from the notice of violation shall be punishable by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250). For a third or subsequent violation within a five-year period, the fine shall be not more than five hundred dollars ($500).

Liberals, especially California liberals, feel laws to be living breathing things.
At what point does Law become the next tyrant?

Don't you wonder how much tax payer money goes into a stupid law like this? Clue for Mr. Brown. It ain't food joint soda that's making people fat.

Think of all the menus that have to be redrafted and printed because Jerry is a Democrat. Not a problem. Space aliens will pay for it.

    Ahem.

Hate to break up the party, but the facts are just a little different from what was presented in the OP or the article cited therein.

If you still need help after reading the bill itself, it addresses the default beverage listed for children's meals. That's all. And while I would agree that the State really doesn't need to get itself legally involved in things like that - "Oh, but you're a liberal! You must be lying!" - the news from California isn't quite as apocalyptic as earlier posts in this thread would suggest.

The government shouldn't be involved. It's not that they don't need to get involved, they shouldn't be.

Yes, this is liberalism at work. You people think you know best. You don't. This is none of the government's business.

If the citizens of that state elect politicians/representatives into positions of power that enact these measures and are still re-elected after the fact, which basically means it’s acceptable, then that seems like normal, acceptable government to me. On one hand a person can’t call for more states rights and then decry a state for going a different route from another.

This is what known as nudge theory from behavioral economics. The government decides what's best, somehow, they're experts in everything, after all, and then rather than directly coercing choices, nudge choice by the defaults it lists. Another example would be to enroll everyone in a program but offer an opt out knowing people don't generally make the effort to do so.

It was also sold as libertarian paternalism, presented to think tanks like the Cato Institute, and rejected.

there is only a cesspool of liberal democrats to choose from.
California went to China to work out a federal trade deal...can't do that
California wants to cede......can't do that
Parts of California want to reform their own states......can't do that
Why? Because the dems have a stranglehold and are using illegal aliens for votes. The illegals have no idea what is going on. Coerce votes or get turned over to ICE.
I want them to leave. I want them to form their own little country. I want to stop the flow of fed money to CA.
Issue passports to those who want to travel east of the Rockies. Those caught sneaking in will be shot.
