    Who's paying their fair share

The top 3% of earners in American paid at least half the federal income tax collected in April of 2016.

    • Richest 1,409 taxpayers pay more income tax than bottom 70Mln

The top 1 percent paid a greater share of individual income taxes (37.3 percent) than the bottom 90 percent comb

Still, there are people here who claim that those people are not paying their fair share. In what world does that make sense?

    It doesn't.

So then shouldn’t this put an end to the argument that the wealthy are not paying their fair share? As more and more people are relieved from paying federal income tax, shouldn't this discredit the meme “tax cuts for the rich”?

    It should but it won't.

Here we go with income tax brackets and the low information crowd.

So once again... stop and think about total income vs total tax paid. How much "earned income" (that income that is subject to income tax) do ridiculously wealthy people have in comparison to their total income? And how much proportionate tax do ridiculously wealthy people pay on total income?

Do you guys have any idea what that means? Is this concept even a fuzzy blur in your minds?

And as Xl mentioned, things like cost and standard of living play into this equation but I know it's a lot easier to just ignorantly point to earned income tax brackets.

This is the kind of foolishness that the powerful and wealthy thrive on.

Yes, they pay more than those approximately 50% that pay no federal income taxes.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    wow...

I'm stunned that people who pass themselves off as intelligent totally don't get this concept.

It's like talking points with my cat.

It's about as productive as talking to some around here so...

Let's see if you can go back and get the point I made.

It stuns me that people don't get this.

What's Trump's taxable earned income do you think? Couple hundred thousand? Taxable earned income, wages.

You know what wages are right? Flip a burger, get a paycheck.

Now what's his total income from all sources? Probably a little more than his earned income I'm guessing.

Now, how much earned income tax did he pay? How much total tax did he pay on ALL of his income?

I know, I've talked past you a few sentences ago.
