Been a long time since I posted anything about my bus driving ambitions, but here we go. This past summer, I was hoping to get summer work like I did last year, but got boned because of my low seniority. So I wound up going on unemployment and picking up a couple charters a week during the summer. Also, I pulled the plug on Trailways and put in an application with the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) which serve the mass transit needs of Erie and Niagara Counties. So I went through the entire application process, assessment testing, interview, and physical. As of October 12, I finished my tenure as a school bus operator and the following Monday, I started the 35 day training course with the NFTA. I started my second week today behind the wheel and am having a blast at it. I'm expecting to start doing routes as an extra board driver December 4 of this year!!
