We're going to start at the beginning. Good old Genesis. Chapter one. It has a lot of meat and potatoes. Essentially the bulk of the creation is covered.
Genesis Chapter 1
I'm using the KJV found at lds.org because if you click on various highlighted words it will show the ancient greek/hebrew equivalents or the JST(Joseph Smith Translation). If you see how these words get altered into english you'll see how people can arrive at different doctrines over the same verses. Feel free to disregard the JST if you don't want to walk down that path, the purpose of this thread is to discuss and study the bible in chunks/chapters - not to proselyte. And hopefully those who don't really understand it might glean something from it. I'm no scholar, I'm just another learner on the path. Those who profess to say they are - might in fact be, but when they use said status to make an argument from authority I'll casually start to take you less seriously.
Anyways, moving on.
Near as I can tell The first chapter covers the creation, or at least the steps of the crafting of this world upon which we now stand. it also contains many profound doctrines which are hotly contested to this day in all of Christendom. These ranging from The actual time spent creating, to whether or not God is a spirit or an exalted and perfected man of flesh and bones. And then giving man charge over the stewardship of this magnificent creation.
What items shall we dive into about this first chapter?
