Grand Jury Indicts Cop Who Fatally Shot Unarmed Man

HOUSTON, TX — A Harris County grand jury indicted a former sheriff’s deputy Thursday for a fatal shooting in March, District Attorney Kim Ogg announced.
The indictment charges fired Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cameron Brewer with Aggravated Assault by a Public Servant for causing the death of Danny Thomas, an unarmed civilian.

KPRC reported: In the March 22 shooting, Thomas was wearing his pants around his ankles, talking to himself and hitting vehicles with his hands as they passed by.
The deputy stopped his vehicle and advised Thomas to stop. He attempted to use other verbal commands, but Thomas approached the deputy in an aggressive manner, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
The deputy shot Thomas one time in the chest, Gonzalez said. Thomas was pronounced dead at Houston Northwest Medical Center.

Probably wasn't the first time that man roughed somebody up, but ... you know, he was depressed. Always looking at the letter of the law to get off. Never anything about personal disposition. Like that Michael Brown shooting. He deserved it, but he's a damn hero to BLM.

I didn't finish the clip. Made me want to puke.

Cop's life was not threatened, cop's behavior prior to pulling the trigger verified that he did not feel there was anything dangerous whatsoever, about the suspect. Suspect was unarmed.

So the cop chose to do what cops are trained to do, at every opportunity they are faced with disposable Black people.

He displayed how he felt that the suspect was not going to attempt to harm him. Yet he saw a chance to do what cops love to do to unarmed Black citizens, so he took it.

And now, his life and his family's lives will be turned upside down for the next 2yrs while his freedom hangs in the balance and his family's finances get depleted via legal fees.

This is beautiful. And mr. Racist or Overzealous Cop deserves every bit of it.

Police Officers job is not to shoot people, a police officer carries a gun to protect others and himself from imminent harm.

From what I saw in the clip there was no reason to shoot the man

I'm wondering if his depression came with psychotic features as it can. He looked more than depressed to me. It's too bad , also with that history I wonder about suicide by cop?

That's false, not to mention bigoted, from first word to last.

Yes, he did look a lot more than just depressed. Probably about ready to explode and shouldn't have even been on the street.

So why did the cop act? We don't see what happened, do we?

I am familiar enough with police internal affairs to know that he would not have been indicted if my perspective is wrong. Now that does not mean he wont get aquitted no one has that crystal ball.

If you are a working police officer and shoot an unarmed man there had better be extenuating circumstances to substantiate that action.
