Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

There is absolutely no way SS can be eliminated at one fell swoop. If it were phased out that is a different issue entirely. Social Security should at the very least return to its original purpose, acting as a retirement account for those paying into it. It was meant as a safety net. Now, it takes so much from your income it all but eliminates the ability to save by other means. Furthermore, it pays people who never paid a penny into the system, it was never envisioned to do that.

If the law was you could either put that amount of money into a savings account of your choice or let the government steal it from you you would have a far greater amount of money in savings than what you can now reasonably expect. Furthermore, if it were truly your money you could leave it to your heirs and assigns. Now when I die my wife gets a pittance of my SS, although she has paid into the system for over 50 years. Thank God we were prudent people and have a substantial savings and retirement account in place.

For those currently living off Social Security to be afraid the Republicans are going to throw them in the street is nothing more than scare tactics by the lying, corrupt, stealing disgusting Democrats.

The stupidity and insecurity of the American voter never ceases to amaze me. Our ancestors came to this country to make a better life by the sweat of their brow, by the freedom to be the best we can be. Their legacy is a bunch of lazy, incompetent, quivering cowards who expect the government to wipe their butts for them.

I think if McConnell had come out and said what you've said, that might have reassured seniors that they wouldn't have been thrown under the bus.

(The senate vote share was even bigger for Democrats, but that's because two Democrats were running for senator in California.)

The difference in seats flipped, of course, is due to the massive gerrymandering by the Republicans. Republicans really don't like genuine representative government.
What do you think the reasons are that Repubs didn't hold.
Because there are fewer Republicans. Gerrymandering and vote suppression can only take you so far. The nation likes Democratic polices and Democratic liberty. We're currently in a condition where the moral majority, the liberals, is being subjugated by an immoral minority, the conservatives.

I agree it was very bad timing and an absolutely stupid thing to say

McConnel in all fairness did not say eliminate he said Reform Medicare and Social Security.

Heres the problem with that, if republicans were to abolish medicare and social security, they would would be the minority party for a very long time

Seniors should be smart enough to understand that was a given. Anyone who didn't should not be allowed to vote
