Now, it takes so much from your income it all but eliminates the ability to save by other means. Furthermore, it pays people who never paid a penny into the system, it was never envisioned to do that.

If the law was you could either put that amount of money into a savings account of your choice or let the government steal it from you you would have a far greater amount of money in savings than what you can now reasonably expect. Furthermore, if it were truly your money you could leave it to your heirs and assigns. Now when I die my wife gets a pittance of my SS, although she has paid into the system for over 50 years. Thank God we were prudent people and have a substantial savings and retirement account in place.

For those currently living off Social Security to be afraid the Republicans are going to throw them in the street is nothing more than scare tactics by the lying, corrupt, stealing disgusting Democrats.

    Well spoken.

Listening to a live speech from President Donald Trump. He sounds tired.

I know there are people here who think it doesn't matter but it does. Trump or Hilebeast. SCOTUS appointments bu any Republican as opposed to any Democrat.

Bear in mind that Obama lost 63 seats and the House in his first midterm. Trump increased the Republican vote in the Senate. Collins and Murkowski no longer have the power they had. They don't have to be bought off anymore.

    Scoreboard

    Barack Obama 2010 midterms:

-Lost 63 House seats, 6 Senate seats

    Donald Trump 2018 midterms:

-Lost 26 House seats, gained 4 Senate seats

One thing is for certain Trump and his agenda was not repudiated by this election, if he were to have been it would have been worse than 2010, democrats are clearly not fully on solid ground with the country.
    Bingo.....but there was another.

Mid terms are more about local issues. Despite the Demos saying it was a referendum on Trump. Just an FYI there about reality.

I agree; i think his words were "cuts to medicare, medicaid and Social Security" and not elimination.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

(The senate vote share was even bigger for Democrats, but that's because two Democrats were running for senator in California.)

The difference in seats flipped, of course, is due to the massive gerrymandering by the Republicans. Republicans really don't like genuine representative government.

Because there are fewer Republicans. Gerrymandering and vote suppression can only take you so far. The nation likes Democratic polices and Democratic liberty. We're currently in a condition where the moral majority, the liberals, is being subjugated by an immoral minority, the conservatives.

Republicans regained control of the chamber they had lost in the 2006 midterm elections, picking up a net total of 63 seats and erasing the gains Democrats made in 2006 and 2008. Although the sitting U.S. President's party usually loses seats in a midterm election, the 2010 election resulted in the highest loss of a party in a House midterm election since 1938,[6][7] and the largest House swing since 1948.[8] This also happened to be the Republicans' largest gain in House seats since 1938......snip~

I have a hunch it has something to do with not getting enough votes.
