That's true. My father in law talked all the time about the need to clear cut, burn and, clean up the forests but, the environmentalists wouldn't allow it to happen.

My brother in law was a firefighter in Butte County and, he used to say the same thing.

It saddens me, what has happened to Paradise/Magalia, because, I remember how it was, when I first started going up there, in the 70's.... I have no idea if it was run by liberals at that time, all I know is, it was a beautiful place to visit...my in-laws scrimped and saved, to buy a piece of property and, build a house...they lived there for 30+ years and, sold out and moved to New Mexico in 2007, but, going up there on holidays and vacations, well, I really looked forward to it.

I don't like California any more than you, now, and it's my home state.

Clear cutting is not the answer. Thinning the forests and clearing underbrush is what needs to be done.

When an area is clear cut, it is generally replanted with the same type of trees which were harvested. The underbrush grows much more quickly than the trees. This causes an extreme risk for fire during the dry seasons.

But yes, environmentalists have gained control over the forestry industry and stopped these practices.
