Listening to NPR yesterday they had someone on who's expertise was the California forests and she backed up Trump's claim about forest management as follows.
Because more people keep building in fire prone areas there have been decades of put out any fire at all costs which allows the forests to build more and more fuel to burn.
I get a kick out of the continued comments by the talking heads blaming this on climate change. CA's problem has been caused by a persistent ridge in the Pacific. That's called weather.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.
When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.
And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

I get a kick out of how people are conditioned to react to dog whistle terms so consistently.
The billions spent by corporate special interests on conditioning propaganda has been very effective.

The problems in Cal are multifaceted. Over development in areas is in my opinion the number one cause of destructive fires, this is also a clear sign of bad forest management. Fires are needed they clear out underbrush and dead matter and help some trees reproduce. Some of the cones of several evergreen trees such aspines, must be exposed to high temperatures to melt their waxy seals, Meaning that they can not reproduce with out forest fires. Nature has done this for all time, man has stepped in and messed up the process.
In addition, southern Cal averages less than 15 inches of rain in most places and most places ave. only 30 days of rain each year add to an already dry situation the over development, lack of controlled burns just adds deadly fuel to the fire. https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/20...nia-wildfires/

Jerry Brown doesn't want deforestation, or lumber companies to clear out CA forests, or controlled burns because it contributes to climate change.
Now, after years of accumulating deadfall across CA, there is a perfect combination for nature to consume all that fuel in a large, tragic, uncontrollable blaze. California is on fire.
And Jerry Brown blames climate deniers.
