Stan Lee, creator of legendary Marvel comic book superheroes, dies at 95.....

Stan Lee, the godfather of Marvel Comics whose cast of characters such as Spider-Man, Hulk and the X-Men were beloved by millions of readers for decades before becoming a multibillion-dollar movie empire that dominated box offices in the 21st century, has died. He was 95.

Lee's representative, Dawn Miller, confirmed he died Monday in Los Angeles.

Stanley Martin "Stan Lee" Lieber, born Dec. 28, 1922 in New York City, started his career as an office assistant at Timely Comics in 1939. As a teen, Lee said he was working odd jobs to help his parents pay the bills, when he heard about the position.

By 1972, Lee rose to the top of Marvel Comics, being named the company's editorial director and published.

After almost 60 years with Marvel, Lee left to create his own media group, Stan Lee Media. He kept a hand in Marvel, being named the company's chairman emeritus.

Marvel got its second life with a score of films and televisions series in the late 2000s through the 2010s. Lee served as executive producer on dozens of the new Marvel incarnations. In almost every film, Lee appeared in short cameo roles to the delight of his fans.

Lee's wife, Joan, died of a stroke in July 2017.

The comic book legend is survived by a daughter, Joan Celia Lee.....snip~

Very sad. I'm surprised that this thread has had no responses. I mean 'Stan Lee'! He's the man who brought so many superheroes to your childhood and upon those characters was spawned all manner of movies today. May he rest in peace. He was truly unique.

Yeah, I thought about responding to it but I didn't.

I was a Hulk child, loved those comics but when it went popular and kidsy I got away from it. I was talking to my CEO who's a younger guy about it today. I didn't think I ever saw one of the movies but I did after he mentioned it, Iron Man. Beyond that those movies have become Disney movies basically, one every week seemingly and all fast and computer graphiced.

meh... kids like them and I don't begrudge that but not my thing.

I can't say that I read the comic books because I read very few comic books, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed the Spiderman and Ironman movies.

He certainly made his mark and left a legacy. Maybe his daughter will take over with the movies that will be coming out.

I still own the copies of Avengers #1 and X-Men #1 that I bought off a squeaky rotating comic rack in the grocery store when I was nine, for 12 cents each. Been collecting Captain America comics for as long as I can remember. Heck, I still have my Merry Marvel Marching Society button.

I find that one of the secrets to sustained happiness in life is to never quite grow all the way up.

I didn't do much comic book reading. However, I did fall utterly in love with Supergirl. I am still not quite over her.

    RIP Stanley Martin Lieber

I always wanted the ex-ray glasses offered on the back pages of comic books so I could see through Wend'y dress in the fourth grade. Pervy 10 year old and not ashamed here.
