I think Canada does a lot right, but IMO mediocre. They rely on government more than the average American, so the services and benefits target more, but provide less bells and whistles.

I imagine I would do fine if I moved there (in such a case, hopefully out west where Conservatives live), but I would resent the high taxes that I would pay.
I hear that a lot, but beyond healthcare, I don't agree that Canadians rely on government anymore than Americans.

On another forum I had an ongoing thread dedicated to everything that was wrong about Canada, but it was mostly just to irritate. Many things listed in the thread were articles that could just as easily been attributed to the US.

That's something I had not heard about Canada. I traveled to Canada a very long time ago and infrastructure was not on my radar at the time. What contributes to the better roads and transportation that the US could possibly implement?
One of the ugliest and shameful things Canada has done is the treatment of its native population. Particularly from the 30's until the 80's. A lot has changed, but a lot has not. Particularly in the western provinces.

As to infrastructure and roads, I just find Canadian roads to be better designed and maintained. Better signage, etc...

I think the problem is you don't often come across many Canadian conservatives. Over the years I've met online only a couple, why I know, even if not exactly correctly, Klein and Harper. And even they were at most progressive conservatives.

That is fine, we don't have to agree.

I just provided my opinion based on limited trips there. I respect your opinion as a resident and that your view has more weight than mine.

I don't want this to be a compare and contrast to the US, but if it happens, it happens. I'd actually like to hear more about what is right with both countries as opposed to what is wrong.

    Any takers?

As far as I am concerned, as of October 17th? Everything is right with Canada!

I have a Canadian friend. He tells me that, in Canada, even the conservatives are liberals.

Canadians I've met are almost always unpretentious.

Probably too cold to properly develop. Which is why they "forward deploy" on their southern border (for the most part).
