Say what you will about the Bible or the translations of it. Not sleeping around seems to be its own benefit. Even better when you're actually married.

Trichinosis is a parasitic disease caused by roundworms of the Trichinella type.[1] During the initial infection, invasion of the intestines can result in diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.[1] Migration of larvae to muscle, which occurs about a week after being infected, can cause swelling of the face, inflammation of the whites of the eyes, fever, muscle pains, and a rash.[1] Minor infection may be without symptoms.[1]Complications may include inflammation of heart muscle, central nervous system involvement, and inflammation of the lungs.[1]
Trichinosis is mainly spread when undercooked meat containing Trichinellacysts is eaten.[1] Most often this is pork but can also occur from bear and dog meat.[7] Several subtypes of Trichinella can cause disease with T. spiralis being the most common.[1] After being eaten the larvae are released from their cysts in the stomach.[1] They then invade the wall of the small intestine, where they develop into adult worms.[1] After one week, the females release new larvae that migrate to voluntarily controlled muscles where they form cysts.[1] The diagnosis is usually based on symptoms and confirmed by finding specific antibodies in the blood or larvae on tissue biopsy.[1]

So, as far as God - the eternal, all-powerful and omnipresent creator of the Universe - is concerned, a couple who have cohabited for fifty years, loving and respecting one another and rearing intelligent, caring children without benefit of a piece of paper from the government are sinners...but a couple of people who say "I do" in front of an Elvis impersonator in Vegas are on the right track? I have to believe this is one of those cases of Man attributing his own concerns and prejudices to the God he has constructed for himself and others. Love, care and commitment, both with regard to one's partner and to any children a couple may share, should be the measure of righteousness - not how closely one conforms to the societal expectations of the day and fills out the "right" paperwork.

The origins of this prohibition are obscure but it's unlikely to be related to health or disease. Israel's own neighbors ate plenty of pork. In fact, that may very well be part of the reason pork was forbidden.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Exactly where in the Bile does it say you have to be married by a priest, elder, chief ... Marriage is saying you are husband and wife as far I can see in scripture.
