Fox News to Support CNN/Acosta Lawsuit Against Trump Admin

    Via Vox:

Fox News can usually be counted on to staunchly support President Donald Trump and his administration. But on Tuesday, network executives publicly rebuked the White House’s move to banish CNN reporter Jim Acosta from the White House.

Fox News president Jay Wallace wrote in a statement that “FOX News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential. We intend to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court. Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized.”

“While we don’t condone the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and the press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people,” he added.

Wallace’s statement comes a day after CNN announced it sued the White House in federal court in an effort to restore Acosta’s credentials, which were stripped by the White House last week following a testy exchange he had with Trump during a news conference. A federal judge is holding a hearing about CNN’s lawsuit on Wednesday afternoon.
Well, that's a surprising development. Never thought I'd see Fox News side with CNN against the Trump administration.

Not surprising. That sword can swing both ways. Eventually, there will be another Dem President and given the current trajectory, could be as reactionary as Trump. If the 1st Amendment is eroded (particularly by untruthful allegations) it affects the entire media, journalists and the press in general.

The silly thing is that there is this thing called technology. Reporters are given a mic to ask their questions, however, if the President is not inclined to indulge those questions and the reporter won't give it up, the feed from that mic can be cut off. All you need is another mic that can be passed to another reporter. I don't know if this is a problem with WH technology or a desire to create drama.

Trump did not violate Acosta's 1st A Rights. The basis for his suit is denial of his 1st A Rights. That has not occurred. Acosta can say and take to "print" he wants.
The WH can control who has access to these briefings. There is such a thing as decorum and rules. Acosta has continually been rude to other reporters by shouting over them as they ask their questions. He has screamed his questions after his time. Being rude might be one way to get some answers, but it is not the only way.
Tell me, did you agree with Obama when he restricted access to certain news outlets?
However, as the New York Times itself reported in 2015, President Barack Obama met privately with liberal reporters and columnists frequently throughout his tenure in office — “more than a dozen” times. And although he occasionally invited conservative columnists, “Liberal-leaning columnists from newspapers tend to dominate at Mr. Obama’s secret sessions.”

A buzz broke out across Washington last week when the White House held a briefing for a select group of reporters while excluding others.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spice was scheduled to hold his daily briefing on Friday, but canceled it and instead held an off-camera briefing for invited reporters. The miffed press corps immediately dubbed the briefing a "gaggle," which in administrations past has been an informal gathering, on the record but off camera, often held in the press secretary's West Wing office.

So, instead of attacking Trump for this, where was your outrage when Obama did it? Secret briefings, indeed.............at least Trump doesn't hold secret briefings.

It is a misplaced desire to create drama. Much greater drama could be had keeping Acosta in the briefing room to eat up time making an ass out of himself and CNN.

    Trump needs better advisers.

FOX news is slightly Never Trump.

Fox has star commentators who are pro-Trump. But their news is not slanted for Trump. Americas seem to be unable to tell the difference between news and news commentary. Public schools, I suspect.

They can switch and become liberals. It's not a conspiracy they are all connected.

*If the 1st Amendment is eroded* .................. What erosion ?? What 1st amendment rights have been "eroded" ?? Being a WH reporter is a privilege not a right. How many reporters does CNN have covering the WH ?? This lawsuit should be dismissed, promptly.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.
