Over 91,000 pounds of Jennie-O ground turkey has been recalled as part of the salmonella outbreak.
The turkey is the first non-animal food recall issued during the outbreak. It is not clear how many people may have been affected, but 91,000 pounds of the one-pound ground turkey packages have been recalled.
Jennie-O is instructing both stores and consumers that have the packages to throw them away

Anyone who thinks ground turkey is a suitable substitute for beef should be shot at dawn. Industrial farmed foul of any sort are filthy and should be avoided.

Not a huge fan of turkey meat, but what an incredible waste on so many levels, not the least of which are all of those turkeys killed only to end up as waste.

All kidding aside there are millions on the planet who almost never have the opportunity to eat meat. However this contamination occurred, it is undoubtedly because of lackadaisical cleanliness standards at some point in the process. I'm one of those people who believe that we should respect the lives of animals that are killed for food and to allow laziness or cheapness on the parts of the processing plants to waste so many animal lives because they can't observe basic sanitary standards is pretty disgusting.

Smithfields packing just had to do the same thing. The China base company for pork. It's a shame all these animals get killed and thrown away.
