I don't care who the Republicans elect as their leader, but it would be nice to see at least one major political party subscribe to conservative principles.

    Sigh, :
    1) Tax cuts cannot ALWAYS produce more revenue. You get that , right? For example how well do you think we would do with say a 1% tax rate?
    2) The actual point is that no revenue generating tax cut in the world can balance our budget without spending cuts.
    3) You will NEVER see the deficit go away without spending cuts .

Actually limiting spending increases to the rate of inflation will lead to steady debt reduction.

Not if they don't balance the budget they won't be for long. Lets say you were outspending your take home pay by 20% but as the result of a tax cut your take home pay increased 5%.. Would you consider that "problem solved?" Please tell me that you understand that economist have tools to try the calculate which tax rate would produce the most revenue . Of course in our culture the tax code is so complex that those tools would be hard pressed to get it right.

Being in the minority I dont expect much, however, they need to fight to cut spending and not just harp on cutting entitlements then vote for huge subisidies for corporations.

I want them to stop their never ending defense of poor poor corporations that make billions and focus on Americans. They got their tax cuts and already they are talking about MORE tax cuts.

The house GOP isnt going to get much if anything done but they can set a tone that makes the country see they are for them, not the rich.

I think Tom Cotton should take over in the Senate. The only one with common sense.

How so? It mean I know how so in some fantasy math example. BTW are you confusing debt deduction with deficit reduction?
But in the real world you are talking about reducing the debt while still continuing to increase spending and assuming that these tax cuts will generate revenue increases above the rate of inflation for a very, very long time all by themselves. More difficult yet your plan ( or the plan you read about somewhere) would take many years to even balance a budget much less start paying down the debt and our government cannot follow through with any long term planning concerning well... much of anything.
Somewhere in the process a war , recession, too "big to fail" or just plain greed would cause spending to increase faster. You know that we spend a LOT more than we take in right?

You behave as if you believe the wealth belongs to the government. It doesn't.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
