Let me tell you why you are wrong. First, they were hunter gatherers and valued grasslands over forests for hunting grazing animals. Before Europeans came along there were fewer trees and more grass because they would start fires to clear the land for new growth. For instance the Sierra Nevada had fewer trees and more grass and the branches started 20 feet up in the 1800's. After Europeans came the trees were still more sparse because the gold diggers would cut them down. It wasn't until after the eco nuts started their campaign to 'save' forests did the forests grow to what they are now and to make it worse, the eco nuts campaigned and won laws that did not allow clearing or cutting. Then the population started moving into these dangerous fire hazards.

These fires and the resulting deaths are fully the responsibility of the eco nuts.
